Recording, against all odds.
May 12th, 2009
It was a dark and stormy night.
No, that’s not right. It was a lovely, sunny weekend in April.
One man arrived on a train at the very moment of the full moon. Another man walked through a small village carrying a violin case.
In a room in Somerset, a delicate pink Amaryllis opened to gaze on a Rickenbacker bass guitar and a rusty drum kit, a Martin, an old Telecaster and a Prophet 5.
The amps hissed and hummed.
The stars aligned.
There was disaster in the air.
There was potential so magical that the universe had no choice but to set itself about conspiring against us. Computers burst into flames. Tape machines seized up. Hardware exploded amongst thunderbolts and clouds of smoke.
But still, we recorded. And it was beautiful.
Ever since, I have been hard at work on various synthesizer and guitar overdubs, vocals, and mixing the album.
There are still a few vocals left to do, and a few lyrics remain to be written, but work on these tracks is progressing remarkably quickly and it is all sounding very, very promising.
